A local agency, not a call centre with a Texas number
Plenty of agencies will sell a Coastal Bend business a group plan from three hours up the interstate. Distance changes nothing about the carriers available or the rate quoted — small-group health insurance in Texas is priced on your census and your ZIP code, not on how far the agent drives.
What it changes is everything after the sale. Who runs the enrollment meeting in your break room. Who answers in February when a claim is processed wrong. Who already knows that your controller retires in March. Wade Secrest and Amiel Garcia are the whole directory here, and they give clients their cell numbers rather than a switchboard.
The towns we serve
We are licensed across Texas and several of our longest-standing group clients are nowhere near the coast. But this is the ground we know best, and the employer base in each town genuinely differs in ways that affect underwriting.
Portland
One of our two offices. Portland has grown into a commuter and small-employer town on the north side of Nueces Bay — professional practices, trades, retail and the service firms that support the industrial corridor at Ingleside and Gregory.
Corpus Christi
Our second office, ten minutes over the Harbor Bridge, and the largest employer base we serve — medical practices, law and accounting firms, restaurants, marine services and distribution.
Ingleside & Ingleside on the Bay
Heavily weighted toward port, fabrication and energy-terminal work. High-hazard occupation classes and seasonal headcount swings make eligibility worth settling before an application goes in.
Aransas Pass
Marine services, boatyards, commercial fishing and tourism. Groups here often mix year-round staff with seasonal help, which is exactly where waiting periods and participation counts need thinking through.
Rockport & Fulton
Hospitality, construction, healthcare and the trades that rebuilt after Harvey. A lot of owner-operator businesses at the small end of group eligibility.
Gregory, Taft & Sinton
San Patricio County agriculture, industrial support and municipal employers. Small censuses where a single employee’s age band moves the whole quote.
Robstown & Odem
Agriculture, logistics and light manufacturing west of Corpus Christi, plus the businesses serving them.
Kingsville & Alice
Further south and west, oilfield services, ranching and education-adjacent employers. We write these groups regularly despite the drive.
What Coastal Bend employers bring us
The regional economy here — port, marine, fabrication, oilfield support, healthcare, hospitality — throws up the same handful of benefits problems over and over. None of them are exotic. All of them are cheaper to solve before an application is submitted than after one is declined.
Medicare help, locally
Amiel Garcia runs the agency’s Medicare practice and sits down with people across the Coastal Bend as they approach sixty-five, leave employer coverage, or want last year’s Advantage plan re-checked against this year’s formulary. The Medigap open enrollment window is six months and does not reopen on request, which makes the timing worth a fifteen-minute conversation well before the birthday.
If you are weighing the plan letters, our guide to Medicare Plan F vs Plan G vs Plan N covers the comparison, and Medicare Supplement coverage explains how Medigap sits alongside Original Medicare.
For employers, the detail lives on our Corpus Christi group health insurance page and the statewide Texas group health insurance guide.
